Be your on boss
What’s stopping you from going ahead?  There are many advantages and disadvantages of being in business. The advantages are:

1. Owners of businesses love their freedom and independence. They don’t work under anybody. There is no office politics. There is no pressure. There is no staff meetings to attend. There are no sales target to meet. You will not get warning letters. You will not be fired. You can work when you want. You can plan your own holidays. You can start work at anytime. You are a free bird. 2. Many people go into business because they want to earn a lot of money. You don’t work for a fixed salary or benefit. You don’t have to complain that your salary is not enough. You can earn as much as you want. The more you work, the more money you make. How much you can earn is in your own hands.

3. A well-run and profitable business offers the owner security. You will not be fired. You will not be transferred. You will not be retrenched. Such a business may also provide full-time and part-time employment for your family members. Your income security is also in your hands. 4. If you are a successful boss, you can create a business and provide employment for others. As your business grows, you need many hands to help you. You may have relatives and friends who are unemployed. You can be of service to them by providing them part-time or full-time employment.

5. Business owners enjoy the power of being a leader. As a leader they would rather make all the decisions about their life, rather than respond to the decisions of others. Leaders learn to make decisions. Some decisions may turn out good and some may turn out bad. However, after a few times, they will be able to make good decisions. 6. People who start businesses can be creative and innovative. When you are employed, your boss or others are involved with all the creative work. You have very little opportunity to try your ideas. Because it is someone else’s business. If you are your own boss, you can create and innovate on your own. There are many disadvantages too. When you want to do your own business, you will receive more negative comments than positive ones. Everyone will try to paint a very bad picture for you. Your own friends and relatives are enough to discourage you. If you can withstand all the comments, and take it as a challenge, you will survive.  Doing business on your own is not easy. However, if you have nothing, what is there to lose?
