Kuala Lumpur: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, will be calling up leaders from several political parties in the next few days, according to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

The opposition leader said the King is also expected to go through the documents he presented during his audience today.

“I appeal to all parties to give the King room to carry out his responsibilities under the Federal Constitution, to go through the documents and, in the next one or two days, call the heads of parties for an audience to get their confirmation and views,” he said in a press conference.

“The documents include statutory declarations and confirmations (of support) from the heads of parties.”

Anwar said he is still of the view that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s government has collapsed.

“(We) must remember that Muhyiddin has lost his majority, therefore it would be appropriate for him to resign.”

Anwar reiterated that the government he hopes to lead will be a Malay-Muslim and Bumiputera majority one, though the rights and interests of all communities will be looked after.

The Port Dickson MP said he has more than 120 MPs supporting him but declined to elaborate further as he said the King should be given room to speak to the heads of each political party.
