KENINGAU: A joint search and rescue operation (SAR) of two siblings washed away by currents midnight Sunday was expanded from Sungai Pegalan here to Sungai Padas in Tenom.

District Police Chief DSP Shahrudin Mat Husain when contacted said the search for the six-year-old boy and the four-year-old girl continued for the third day. Wednesday’s operation saw an increase in the strength of the team to 65 along with the Fire and Rescue Station team from Tenom.

District Fire and Rescue Department Chief Mudi Pengiran said the search continued with Fire Chief Yuzaimi Hairul as the head of operations and conducted Surface Rescue and Surface Searching from the victim’s last location up to a 10km radius.
