Data by the Syariah Judiciary Department showed Sabah recorded 955 under 18-marriages from 2011 to Oct. 2016, where 505 cases involved female Muslim children.

Additionally, data by the National Registration Department showed 5,215 child marriages recorded in Malaysia from 2005 until Oct. 2015 for non-Muslim marriages.
