Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Air Aviation Sdn Bhd (SAASB) aims to soar higher in the aviation industry by setting up East Malaysia’s first independent Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for the maintenance of commercial aircraft.

The move is in line with the call by the State Government to develop high value and high-tech industry in the State, said its new Chairman Kenny Chua Teck Ho.

“The MRO, to based at the State Capital, will initially cater for single aisle commercial aircraft and heavy maintenance that would attract major aerospace industry players to Sabah.

“The setting up of the MRO will be a catalyst for the development of the aerospace industry in the State.

“Sabah is blessed in the sense that it is strategically located in the region.
