LABUAN: High-speed passenger boat “Ming Hai”, which operated on the Labuan-Brunei route, was finally forced out of the jetty here on Wednesday, ending a 10-month dispute over the boat’s continued use of the jetty for anchorage despite issued notices.

Disappointed with the situation, Wong Kiing Toh, operations manager of Double Power Sdn Bhd, the operator of the boat, said:

“We are in a dilemma and hope that the Marine Department and Labuan Corporation (LC) will provide an anchorage for our boat.”

“We have been operating the service since 1973 and parking the boat at the Labuan Liberty Port had not been a problem and posed no problem to anyone. It is unfortunate that we had been chased out,” he said.
