The embankment failure along Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Keningau-Tenom.
PENAMPANG: Rectifying the embankment failure involving Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Keningau-Tenom may cost RM5 million, according to State Assistant Works Minister Datuk Limus Jury.

“The estimated figure is subject to the results and findings on the damages,” he said in a statement, Tuesday. The route connects Kota Kinabalu to the interior of Sabah (Tambunan, Keningau, Tenom and Ranau Districts).

He said preliminary investigations found that the slope failure was triggered by heavy rain that continued several days before the landslide.

The Public Works Department also found that one of the main causes of the huge landslide was due to the high groundwater flow which weakened the road structure.
