Kota Kinabalu: A foreigner was jailed 11 months here, Tuesday, on two counts of taking drugs and staying in the State illegally.
Maddin Akamis, 28, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to taking syabu and amphetamine on Dec 31, last year here.

He was sentenced to seven months’ jail.

Unrepresented Maddin requested for a lenient sentence and confirmed to the court that he has no valid document.
He was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years’ jail on conviction.
