Kota Kinabalu: Villagers in Sungai Eloi, Pitas, want the Government to replace their wooden bridge which was swept away by the recent floods with a permanent concrete one.Located some 10km from Pekan Pitas, the village is home to some 417 villagers comprising mostly farmers and fishermen.

It is understood that residents from nearby villages, namely Kg Pogil, Kg Kuyu and Kg Monsuvit, also prefer taking the bridge which acts as a shortcut to the jetty, schools and church.

“There is an alternative route which is mostly used by villagers with cars, while the wooden bridge is preferred by villagers who don’t have cars,” said Kg Sungai Eloi spokesperson, Mastupang Somoi.
