RANAU: The Kinabalu National Park parking lot collapsed in a huge landslide in the morning today following weeks of heavy rainfall after showing substantial cracks since November.
When contacted by Daily Express, Kinabalu National Park Manager Yassin Miki said the collapse happened in three stages, beginning 10.53pm on Tuesday, followed by another landslide at about 11.45pm and the last one at 1.00am.

He said the incident was firstly noticed by park workers and all personnel were put on alert during the whole incident, which narrowly missed the Panataran Restaurant only several meters away.

Up to 80pc of the parking lot crumbled to the valley below, he added.
