PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi have been confirmed to be Covid-19 negative.

In a Facebook post, Najib said this might be the 15th time he had undergone a swab test.

“Negative (for Covid-19). Alhamdulillah, yesterday’s test showed I am negative,” he said.

Najib said he had been undergoing swab tests before entering Dewan Rakyat sittings and crossing interstate borders.

“If there are any close contacts (of Covid-19 cases), I take the test again,” Najib added.

Zahid also took to Facebook this morning to announce that he had received the result of his test.

“Alhamdulillah, this morning I got the good news that my swab test was negative.”

After undergoing a medical check-up at Avisena Hospital in Shah Alam, Zahid said he had isolated himself from his wife, children and grandchildren, in line with the standard operating procedures.

“I pray that the public will look after their health and break the chain of Covid-19,” he added.

Yesterday, Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

Media reports had said that Tajuddin had met with Zahid and Najib at Umno’s headquarters on Jan 17.

Recently, Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz also tested positive for Covid-19. This follows a press conference on Jan 12 where Tajuddin and Nazri were seen sitting side by side.

Among those reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 recently are minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (economy) Mustapa Mohamed; women, family and community development minister Rina Harun; home minister Hamzah Zainudin; national unity minister Halimah Mohamed Sadique; deputy communications and multimedia minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin; and Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
