Boozing at quarantine centre: Police take statements from eight Covid patients

Kota Kinabalu: Police have taken statements from eight Covid-19 patients including two women who allegedly drank beer while isolating at the Likas quarantine centre, near here, Wednesday.
City Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji said as soon as the investigation is completed, police will refer the case to the Deputy Public Prosecutor who will weigh if there is enough evidence for further action in court.

State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, in a press conference on Tuesday, said the quarantine centre management has started spot-checks on patients' bags brought into the facility to prevent a reoccurrence.

On Jan 17, a 12-second footage showing a man holding a can of beer while speaking to another person with the presence of others in the same room went viral. A man can be seen having buckets full of beer towards the end of the clip.
