TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd (TM) set up a new service pole in Inanam township recently after the existing one was severely damaged in a car accident.Several road users were concerned about their safety when passing through the affected section as the cables were sagging.

To make matters worse, the pole which stood next to the road junction was tilting and was likely to fall onto passing vehicles.
The pole was only secured with ropes to prevent it from falling onto the roadway.
A TM spokesman, when contacted on March 1, said its contractor replaced the affected pole a day after receiving the report from Hotline.
“We apologise for the delay and in fact what was done before was only a temporary solution while waiting for a new pole to arrive,” he added.

He said its technical team had also ensure that the land line services, especially the internet connectivity in that area, was running as it should before leaving the site.
“It’s really scary to stop by at this road junction knowing that the pole is leaning toward my car,” stressed TAN, the complainant.

He said motorists from Taipan Commercial Centre must stop at the area before proceeding towards the roundabout.
“Those who are familiar with the traffic congestion in this part of the town are very much aware of the sluggish traffic flow along this main road during the evening’s peak hours.
