Concern over potholes near Dambai roundabout

A DAILY user of Jalan Tuaran in Manggatal, has expressed his concerns about several deep potholes near the roundabout at Kampung Dambai, as it aggravates the traffic sluggishness along that stretch during the peak hours.

The latter approached Hotline with a picture of the problem and also urged the road caretaker to patch these uneven sections soon as possible.

“It needs to be attended to without any delay because the sharp thump noise can cause premature damage to my car’s suspension system,” stressed JACOB, who lives in that village.

He also bemoaned the long traffic jam heading to the traffic light intersection at Tebobon from town area due to the damaged road. “It gets worse around 5.30pm to 7pm because everyone are driving slower than usual to avoid hitting these potholes,” he added. Apart from resurfacing the affected road, he also pointed out the need to check for the source of the constant pool of water in that area.

“This is important as it will prevent the freshly laid asphalt to be ruined again in a matter of days,” he said, adding that he assumed the problem stemmed from a bad drainage.

A Public Works Department (PWD) spokesman said its relevant concessionaire would be asked to deal with the matter promptly. “We will check for the source of the water that often pooling in that section of the road and deal with it first before patching the potholes,” he added.
