Driver unhurt in LD accident

LAHAD DATU: A driver was lucky to escape unhurt while his passenger suffered minor injuries after the Toyota Estima they were travelling in was involved in an accident on Monday night.

It was learnt that the incident occurred when the Toyota Estima skidded and plunged into a ravine. 

A statement from Lahad Datu the Fire and Rescue Department on Tuesday said the incident occurred at Sabahan areas along Lahad Datu-Kunak stretch at about 11.30pm.

The department received a distress call at 11.34pm and nine Fire and Rescue personnel with a fire engine and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle were deployed to the scene.

The victims from the Estima were given initial treatment by the EMRS team.

Both victims were later taken to the hospital for further treatment. The operation ended at 12.35am.
