Sabah is optimistic of 60pc full vaccination in Sept

Tuaran: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the Sabah Government is optimistic of achieving 60 per cent complete vaccination in the State in early or mid September.He said this would be possible as 1.4 million of the Sabah population had received at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine through the vaccination programme implemented Statewide so far.

He said a total of 560,720 doses of Pfizer, Sinovac and CanSino vaccines will arrive next week that will further increase the vaccination rate in the State.
“The vaccination rate in Sabah is estimated to reach up to 60,000 doses of vaccine a day.
“With this good development, it is expected that the 60 per cent target of complete vaccination will be achieved earlier on Sept 15 and this continuous effort will ensure the State Government’s efforts to achieve herd immunity in October can be achieved,” he said.
Hajiji said this in a press conference in conjunction with his working visit to the Tuaran Hospital Vaccination Centre (PPV) and PPV Seri Sulaman hall, here, on Saturday.

In another development, he said an application to upgrade Tuaran Hospital to become a specialist hospital will be submitted to the Federal Government.
“We apply because the size of the hospital is suitable for that purpose (upgrade to become a specialist hospital) and due to the very high demand of people using the hospital services.

“Besides that, the State Government also hopes that health clinics in Tuaran can be increased, especially in the Sulaman and Pantai Dalit areas,” Hajiji said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

In light of this, he said the upgrading and having more health clinics are important as an effort to provide best medical infrastructure and health services to the people.
Also present were State Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Joniston Bangkuai and Sabah Health Department Director Dr Rose Nani Mudin.
