YB: Set up Neighbourhood Watch to assist police

TAWAU: Sri Tanjong Assemblyman, Justin Wong, urged every residential area to form a ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ in their own community and work closely with the police to protect their families and their neighbours through the community policing strategy.Justin said it is important for the people to cooperate among themselves and form a ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ or ‘Community Association’ to interact and help each other for retaining the safety and harmony in their respective areas.ADVERTISEMENT
He told reporters while attending a reactivation of the police beat base at Da Hua 5, Jalan Chong Thien Vun, Wednesday morning.
“Burglary is not an isolated incident. It has become the responsibility of every residents to work together to combat crimes. For example, a residential area can hire a security guard to patrol around their residential site,” he said.
