PENAMPANG: A fire and rescue team including a canine unit have been mobilised to carry out rescue operations following a landslide that occurred in Jalan Moyog, Kg Sogumau, Madsiang, here, today.

It is understood that the landslide occurred following a thunderstorm that started from 12pm, Wednesday.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations, Misran Bisara, when contacted, said the team encountered problems en route to the scene.

"Due to the difficult road conditions, the rescue team could not go through the road to the scene," he said.

When asked if there were any victims buried in the landslide, he said there were none.

At around 4pm, two videos of the landslide went viral on social media and WhatsApp.

The first video, which lasted 48 seconds, showed an individual carrying two children believed to have been rescued from a house that nearly collapsed due to the landslide.

In the same video, a car was also pushed onto the house while three individuals were pulled out of the half-buried house.

The second video, which ran for 30 seconds, showed two vehicles, including one that flipped on its side, on top of the house.
