Not bringing MyKad: Man charged

Kota Kinabalu: A man was charged for not bringing along his MyKad while in a shopping mall.Mohd Razi Haron was appeared before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun, via Zoom on Wednesday.

However, no plea was recorded from Mohd Razi after the charge was read to him.
He is accused of not bringing his MyKad at 10.05pm on Sept 7 this year at the 1Borneo shopping mall, near here.
The offence under Section 25(1)(n) of the National Registration Regulation, carries a jail term of up to three years or fine, on conviction.
The court set Oct 25 this year for mention and no bail was offered to Mohd Razi.

Mohd Razi was also charged with taking syabu but his plea was also not taken pending the chemist’s report.
For the second case, the court fixed Oct 20 for mention.

In another case, a man claimed trial to causing grievous hurt to another man.
Mohd Ruzali Awng Basri made the plea after the charge was read to him.
He allegedly assaulted Shafiz Sakaran at 11am on May 21 this year at Kg Likas, here.
The court set Oct 20 for case management.
In previous proceedings, Mohd Ruzali was offered bail of RM2,000 but he failed to post the bail. Inspector Albert Basiri prosecuted.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man from Selangor was ordered to enter his defence on a charge of trafficking 10,350.7gm of syabu.
High Court Judge Datuk Nurchaya Arshad made the order for Lee Kok Wah, after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Lee on Wednesday.
The court set Oct 27-28 this year for Lee’s defence in which the defence informed that only one witness would be called.
Lee is accused of trafficking the drug at 11.46am on April 8, 2018 at the arrival hall of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here.
Lee, who worked as ceiling installer, was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries a punishment with either the death penalty or life imprisonment and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes, on conviction.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The prosecution had called 11 witnesses during the hearing.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Shafiq Mahadi conducted the prosecution while Lee, who was ordered to be remanded further, was represented by assigned counsel Chong Kian Ming.
