Fire destroys Penampang church, homes, vehicles

Kota Kinabalu: A church, eight houses and three vehicles were destroyed in a fire but no casualties were reported in Kampung Babah Bunduon, here, today.
The 8.30am incident involved 10 families, reported Berita Harian.

A spokesman of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.48am.
A team of 11 firefighters together with two fire engines and an emergency medical and rescue services vehicle were dispatched to the location.
“As soon as we arrived, the fire was found to have burned most of the houses in the village,"said the spokesman.
Immediate extinguishing operations were carried out to control the fire from spreading further.

"The fire extinguishing operation used a 91-meter stream via two water jets from the fire engines' tanks," he added.
