Covid booster shots rolled out in Tuaran

Tuaran: The Covid-19 vaccine booster shots have been rolled out to frontliners in the Tuaran district.Tamparuli Assemblyman Datuk Jahid Jahim hoped the recipients would set a good example to the rest of the community.

“The initial recipients of the booster dose are showing the community that we are serious about moving towards an endemic, to ensure that comfort, travel and daily life would go back to normal,” he said after officiating the Launch of Booster Dose to frontliners at the Tuaran Hospital, Wednesday.
Jahid, who is also Rural Development Minister, said the booster shots would be prioritised for frontliners, senior citizens and individuals with health conditions.
“Apart from the appointment centre, outreach programmes such as the Mobile Vaccination Unit will also be continued,” he added,
Meanwhile, awareness of the Covid-19 vaccine among residents here have increased, as more than 80 per cent of its residents have completed at least their first dose.

Jahid said he was satisfied with the positive response in the community.
“As of Oct 15, 87.1 per cent of adults here have received their first dose, while 88 per cent of adolescents have received their first dose,” he said.
