Tuaran: Two teenage girls were saved by the public from being swept away by waves while bathing at Sabandar beach, here, on Oct 28.

In the 4.10pm incident, Fatrisa Moksin, 14, and her friend Alisa Mukacal, 16, were seen to be struggling in the water by some visitors who immediately jumped in to rescue them.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said they received an emergency call at 4.15pm.

He said 11 personnel were rushed to the scene with a machine and a utility vehicle from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).

“Upon arrival, the victims were found to have been rescued. The EMRS team gave the duo initial treatment until they were both in stable condition,” he said, Friday.
