Prisons Dept driver dies in lorry collision in Tuaran

The badly damaged four-wheel drive vehicle which killed the driver and seriously injured two other passengers, one of them a detainee, following the collision with a lorry.
Tuaran: A 33-year-old who worked as a driver at the Sandakan Prisons Department was killed when the Toyota Hilux he was travelling in with a colleague and a detainee collided with a lorry at KM29 near Kg Kaung Lapai, Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, here, Saturday.The accident also left his colleague, a 43-year-old man, seriously injured. The four-wheel-drive belonged to the Department.
The man succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the Tuaran Hospital.
Acting Tuaran District Police Chief ASP Raji Hussin Suhodin said initial findings showed that the trio was heading towards Ranau from Tamparuli when the deceased lost control of the vehicle.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

“The impact caused the car to cut into the opposite lane before colliding with a lorry driven by a 45-year-old man,” he said.ADVERTISEMENT
The case is still being probed and those with information have been urged to come forward to facilitate investigations.
