Another two escapees recaptured

PAPAR: Police have on Thursday detained two more Filipino illegal immigrants – among the 14 who escaped from the Papar Immigration Detention Centre here at Pantai Manis.District Police Chief DSP Batholomew ak Umpit said the latest arrests added the tally of the recaptured to nine, with five more still at large.

“Acting on information, the two men were picked up around noon,” he said, adding the five still at large are Nadzwin Usman, 24, Herman Bilau and Tuliang Maddalani, 35, Pertama Lapanji, 40, and Husin Japar 43.
“Two of the suspects, Pertama and Tuliang, were also found but they managed to evade arrest by swimming towards the sea,” he added.
He urged those with information to contact IPD Papar at 088-912222 and 088-916064.
On Wednesday, 14 detainees escaped from the Papar Immigration Detention Centre at 3.30am but seven of them were recaptured the same day.
