KENINGAU: A 54-year-old driver was seriously injured when his Toyota Vigo collided with a trailer lorry at Sook-Nabawan Road, near the Sook KoSinar Factory, on Friday.

Keningau Zone Fire and Rescue Department Chief Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Juatan said Saturday that the Sook Fire and Rescue Station was alerted of the incident via a call at 5.58pm.

He said seven personnel from the Sook station, led by operations officer Selverinus Julius, rushed to the scene some four kilometres away.

“The Toyota Vigo driver who was stuck in the driving seat was extricated and sent to the Keningau Hospital in an ambulance,” he said.

Meanwhile, in TENOM, a Hitachi heavy machinery in Kampung Pamilaan, about 22km from Tenom town, caught fire.

Yuszaimi said the Tenom Fire Station received a call via MERS999 at 5.37pm on the incident on Friday and deployed a seven-member team led by operations officer Mohd Ali Sahiranizam to the scene.

“The firemen carried out extinguishing operations using a single hose reel flow to control and extinguish the fire and water sources from the machinery tank,” he said, adding no casualties and injuries were reported.
