Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) rescued seven offshore installation contractors after a boat sank and another half-submerged off Kimanis in Papar today.

All seven were wearing life jackets and standing on the half-sunken boat when the rescuing party arrived at about 1.42pm today, according to an MMEA statement.

They were then taken to the MMEA jetty in Sepanggar, near here.

What installation the contractors were performing was not mentioned, however, Kimanis is the site of the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal that processes oil and gas produced from the region's offshore fields.
