Body of girl missing after Sandakan boat mishap found

SANDAKAN: The body of a 14-year-old girl who went missing after a boat she was travelling in capsized last night off Kampung Semawang, Mile 19, here, was found today.
The body was found by villagers at 12.18pm about 400 metres from where the boat overturned and was turned over to the police, ending search-and-rescue operations.

It was learnt that the girl and three other passengers were thrown into the water in the mishap which occurred while they were travelling from Kampung Semawang Laut to Kampung Semawang Darat at around 6pm.
The three other victims were saved by nearby villagers.
A Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department team led by Bernadius Jacob had rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 8.50pm.
