70pc Sabah cases among those fully vaccinated
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases rose slightly to 401 Tuesday from 342 previously, of which 70 per cent comprised fully vaccinated individuals, said Sabah’s Covid-19 Spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.“Of the figure, 281 were fully vaccinated while 42 were unvaccinated. Some 76 were ineligible for the vaccine while two cases completed their first dose,” he said, Tuesday.

Five deaths were recorded – two each in Tenom and one each in Kota Marudu, Ranau and Keningau.  Masidi said 37.41 per cent of the caseload were sporadic infections (150 cases) while 55.36 per cent were close contacts (222 cases). He said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 53 cases, followed by Tuaran (49), Penampang (31), Kota Belud (31), Kota Marudu (26), Kuala Penyu (23), Papar (23) and Tenom (21). “Kota Kinabalu is back at the top and although its figures are lower, it is still concerning as 30 out of 53 cases in the district are sporadic infections. “Some 18 districts recorded an increase in cases, while five districts recorded a decrease. Only Kinabatangan recorded a significant decrease (-70). Semporna, Nabawan, Kunak and Kalabakan remain with zero cases,” he said. Masidi said 97 per cent of cases are category one and two infections that do not require hospital treatment. “There are four patients each in category three and four and one patient in category five. Four cases are still being evaluated by the State Health Department,” he said. Some 598 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 1,445 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.

Masidi said 72 patients are under critical care, including 69 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/repurposed critical care as well three in the open ward (high dependency ward (HDW)/acute cubicle), with 24 patients needing ventilator support.

“Some 43 stage four and five patients (22.75 per cent) have not completed their vaccinations,” he said, adding that Sabah’s bed capacity is at 4,804 units with an occupancy rate of 30.08 per cent.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 4,479 individuals were vaccinated on Nov 29, of which 4,043 were adults and 436 were teenagers. “As of Nov 29, some 2,440,155 individuals have completed their first dose, of which 76.35 per cent were adults. Some 2,390,160 individuals have completed both doses of the vaccine, of which 75.50 per cent were adults,” he said.

He added that 334,133 teenagers have received their first dose, whereas 307,542 teenagers have been fully vaccinated thus far.
