Duo trapped in K’gau bank

KENINGAU: Two men who were trapped for two hours in an ATM machine room of a bank while withdrawing money were rescued by Fire and Rescue Department personnel on Monday.

The department’s Keningau Zone Chief, Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Juatan, said the two, in their 30s, were trapped after the automatic door (roller) closed suddenly.

He said the department received a call at 2.15am believed from one of the victims and four staff led by Operations Supervisor Norhasrita responded. “The fire personnel used a crowbar to force open the door,” he said. The personnel called the bank and a female staff gave permission to open the door by pressing an iron plate on the door lock without damaging the door,” he said.
