KIULU: Work must begin immediately for Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) members to seize the Tuaran parliamentary seat in the coming general election.PBS President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, in making the call, said PBS could not confidently claim an “automatic” win over the seat without hard work and commitment of all members.ADVERTISEMENT
“We cannot say it will be an automatic win for PBS because although we have two of the four state seats under Tuaran, namely Tamparuli and Kiulu, the others being Sulaman and Pantai Dalit.
“If it is possible, you should begin work immediately after the AGM, but I trust, our machinery is ready. What is more important is that we are prepared anytime to take on Tuaran,” he said.
On another development, Maximus said work continues to restore the rights and demands of Sabah and Sabahans, as enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“In fact, these have been PBS’ core struggle since its inception in 1985, way before I was appointed to oversee the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs under the Prime Minister’s Department.ADVERTISEMENT
“And now as the Minister in charge of the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs, I am just continuing the works and tasks as stipulated under the PBS agenda. God willing, we will be able to restore our rights, in full in due course,” he said.
