SPCA Tawau seeks donations
TAWAU: SPCA Tawau is appealing for public donations to ensure its animal shelter at Jalan Kau Sing here, which houses more than 600 dogs and cats, can continue to operate.

Its President Kapitan Leong Nyuk Yin said the appeal is being made following limited funds due to the Covid-19 pandemic and an increase in the number of dogs and cats.

“Currently, we need to spend more than RM500 daily for their (dogs and cats) food, not to mention the premises’ rental fee, utility bills, workers’ salaries and medical expenses. The funding had dropped tremendously and we are not even able to collect donations like previous years through charity food bazaar,” she said.

According to her, they need two packs of dog food (each pack costs RM72) as well as 180kg chicken heads (RM1.75 per kg) and 150kg rice (RM24.50 for 10kg) every day.

Meanwhile, the local government also send stray dogs and cats to them after they caught them elsewhere. Hence, Leong urged those who have lost their pets (dogs or cats) to go their shelter.

The public can also donate funds to the association through its account – Alliance Bank (100570010088248) (Persatuan Mencegah Kezaliman Terhadap Haiwan Tawau Sabah) or via Touch N Go or Boost. For more information, the public can visit their Facebook page (SPCA Tawau).
