Shareda courtesy call on IDS

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) paid a courtesy call to the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) on 19th May 2022, at Wisma IDS.IDS Chairperson, Datuk Adeline Leong and IDS CEO, Ts. Dr. Ramzah Dambul welcomed the Shareda delegates led by President, Datuk Sr. Chua Soon Ping.

Datuk Chua expressed that the visit was to touch base with IDS on property development post Covid-19, in creating a more economically sustainable development model for the State of Sabah. “Shareda acts as a platform for all stakeholders and to actively promote developments as an effort to stimulate the recovering economy,” he added. Among pertinent topics being discussed between the Institute and Shareda were Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.

Discussing on the topic of modernising the property development industry, Datuk Chua presented Shareda’s Big Data Google Map, a digital mapping initiative for local, foreign and seasonal investor to monitor the current updated property market. This digital map, equipped with big data analytic, is among the pioneer of such approach in Malaysia for property development. “Information derived from this technology can facilitate government and developers more effectively in planning new projects and strategising the development of specific areas,” he said.

Other issues being discussed were property development issues such as the shortage of cement and building materials, and affordable housing.

Also present from Shareda were, Deputy President Datuk Johnny Wong, Vice President, Mr Wesley Chai, Secretary-General, Mr Benny Ng,Youth Chairperson, Mr Roland Ling, Youth Deputy Chairperson, Mr Alexander Hugo Malakun, Executive Secretary, Ms Salina Abdullah, Research Officer, Alex Lo, and Admin Assistant, Norezwan Ismail. IDS management present were Senior Associate Director, Richard T. Koh, and Associates Directors, Hajah Hasnah Samsudin, Azaharuddin Hassanuddin, Ghazali Abd. Kadir and Anita Limjoon.
