Kota Kinabalu: The majority of over 1,000 Indian-Muslim restaurants in Sabah are expected to raise the price of roti canai – the all-time favourite Malaysian breakfast – by up to 50 sen following the continued rise in flour prices lately. It is understood that some have already done so and that the implementation of RM1,500 minimum pay effective May 1 is also a factor.
Hence, diehards would have to pay RM2 per roti canai. This is in contrast to the price in Kuala Lumpur increasing only between 20 and 50 sen. The difference is believed due to shipping costs.
