LABUAN: About 150 petty traders engaged in food and mixed sales at the two upper floors of the RM33 millions modern 2014-built Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) are finding it almost impossible to run a profitable business due to the two lifts and an escalator serving the floor being endlessly plagued with maintenance requirement problems.

“The escalator has been in a state of disrepair for two years. It’s frustrating for us,” said an irate trader on the first floor.

The Labuan Corporation has placed a notice at the doors of the lifts reading “Lifts/escalator under routine preventive maintenance”.
