Covid: Sabah’s new cases breach 200 mark
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s caseload nearly breached the 200 mark with 192 cases on Saturday from 170 the day earlier.Sabah’s Covid-19 Spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the high figures were largely contributed by the increasing number of infections in highly populated urban areas such as Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Sandakan. “Cases in Kota Kinabalu increased to 63 while cases in Penampang spiked to 59 cases on Saturday from 29 the day earlier,” he said in a statement Saturday, adding that Sandakan recorded 15 cases. However, Masidi said there are still more districts recording a decrease, with infections reducing in 12 districts compared to eight that recorded an increase. “The number of districts recording zero new infections rose to 12 from nine the day earlier. The number of districts recording new infections also decreased from 18 to 15,” he said. Masidi said 186 out of 192 cases were category one and two infections, while two were in category three, three in category four and one in category five. 68 per cent were sporadic infections.

No deaths or new clusters were identified.
