Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Ong Kim Swee is wary of a wounded Selangor FC when Sabah FC take them on at Stadium MBPJ this evening at 9pm.

The Red Giants were thrashed 1-5 by Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) FC in their last match and Ong believes the home side will try to bounce back immediately and the players must be aware of the threat.

“Although they lost to JDT in their previous match, I believe they will come back stronger, especially playing at home with the support of their fans.

“Therefore, I don’t see their loss to JDT as an advantage for our team and we must stay focused and also be careful with our game play,” he said on Monday.

He added that the team line-up will only be known before the match as he still needs to make a decision on new signing Jose Embalo who has just joined the team only a few days ago.

“We will only play Jose Embalo subject to his fitness as he has just arrived about three or four days ago.

“I don’t want to rush into putting him out early, but if there is clear indication that his confidence and fitness is up to the task by tomorrow then we may play him.

“As for Saddil (Ramdani), he has just returned from national duty with the Indonesian team a week ago but he is in a very good condition.

“He is one of our key players but the final decision on the starting line-up will only be known before the kick-off,” he said.

Sabah FC who have won their last three matches are currently third in the table with 18 points, one point behind leaders JDT and second placed Negeri Sembilan FC.
