PENAMPANG: Nutribah, a wellness hub and one of the leading superfood producers in Sabah, is at the forefront of the movement toward sustainable organic farming because of people’s yearning for healthy products.

The organic grocer is producing a line of healthy organic products using Smart Farming Technology.

The Smart Farming Technology uses the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart irrigation systems to improve efficiency. For example, soil pH readings, temperature and humidity can be tracked in real time from a dashboard.

“Nutribah, which will celebrate its second anniversary on July 2-3, was set up with the goal of making Sabah more valuable and to help the Malaysian economy,” said Nutribah Executive Director, Preston Sean Soh.

He said Nutribah supports a lifestyle that is good for health and wellness as a whole, and it also uses renewable energy to power its organic produce.

“Today, we keep working to grow the agriculture industry in Sabah using a model that is both sustainable and based on digital intelligence,” he said at a press conference to announce the launch of the upgraded package of Nutribah’s Organic Sacha Inchi Oil, here.

With the new packaging, Nutribah Organic Sacha Inchi Oil is now available in sachets and capsules (60 capsules). Before, it was only sold in bottles (25 ml).

The launching also coincides with the Global Wellness Day, which is held every year in June.

Preston said local farmers could also get jobs in agriculture and learn about organic farming through Nutribah.

“We work to address concerns about food security and transparency, improve nutritional quality and meet the demand for organic superfoods by making organic produce easier to get and lowering farming costs so that it’s affordable for everyone,” he said.

In addition to its benefits for consumers, Sacha Inchi cultivation, he said, is also good for farmers in Sabah since the crop produces fruits all year long.

“Farmers can keep making money throughout the year and get the most out of the mineral-rich land in Sabah,” he said.

On the Smart Farming Technology, he said, the Sachi Inchi nuts are carefully washed and picked before they are cold-pressed into oil to make sure that the best quality of the product is kept from the farm to the factory to the person who buys it.

They also regulate the amount of water and fertilisers distributed to the crops and nip issues in the bud, eliminating wastage and unpredictable hidden farming costs.

Aquaculture under Nutribah’s care is fed with used Sacha Inchi nuts that are turned into pallets when Sacha Inchi oil was made. This helps build a sustainable, circular ecosystem.

The organic crops are cared for by sunlight from the solar panels and water from the mountains. Unwanted crops are turned into organic feed and compost to help the land.

Solar-powered cellular cameras can tell a lot about a field, from how many plants are there to how healthy the soil is.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with their second year anniversary, Nutribah will be offering 20 per cent off for dining all day long at their premises at Lot 1, Nutribah Avenue, Kg Minintod Penampang from July 2 – 3. They will be also be offering up to 50 per cent off for all their Sacha Inchi products. Free nutrition diagnosis by certified nutritionist will also be given.
