THE Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan (SMJ) launched in March last year aimed at improving the economy and the wellbeing of Sabah’s people is beginning to yield positive results, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.He said success was also achieved in sectors such as agriculture, industry and tourism, including human capital development, to ensure that Sabah’s children do not fall behind in employment. “Therefore, I call on all Sabahans to make it a collective success because the SMJ plan aims to drive comprehensive development based on our strong identity and steadfast patriotism in accordance with the State coat of arms slogan which is Sabah Maju Jaya,” he said.

He said this at the Sabah State Level Ma’al Hijrah Celebration 1444H/2022M at Dewan Sa’adah Wisma of the Islamic Religious Council of Sabah (Muis), Kota Kinabalu, on July 30. Head of State Tun (Dr) Juhar Mahiruddin officiated the event.

Hajiji encouraged Sabah Muslims to always strive to improve the potential and quality of all aspects in order to achieve excellence in this world and happiness in the afterlife. He said although the Prophet’s hijrah (migration) is now only history, the spirit of hijrah and the need to make changes towards goodness is forever relevant, especially when the country is facing various challenges due to the pandemic. “In facing circumstances of today, we cannot afford to divert focus from preserving unity, improving the economy and human capital for the State’s growth.

“Thus, I hope future generations will continue to be citizens who uphold religion, the nation and this country. “Concern for this matter is very important, because the hopes and prospects of the country lie upon the youth who will lead this State and country in the future.

“Therefore, live and understand the meaning behind the migration in order to be a creative and innovative community when facing challenges. Hijrah happens throughout the ages.

“One of the lessons we can take is that kinship and camaraderie among Muslims as established by the Holy Prophet SAW through uniting the Muhajirin and the Ansar.

“His Majesty SAW’s wise actions created mutual feelings of love, tolerance and relief in addition to enabling Muslims to slowly transform themselves into a united, strong, advanced and prosperous people,” he said.

Hajiji said the theme of Maal Hijrah 1444, which is “Malaysian Family, Catalyst of Prosperity”, is in line with the unity of Muslims despite multiple races, languages and cultures across borders.

He said Muslims want to achieve the common goal of forming a country that can empower the values of togetherness while respecting all existing differences.

According to him, the essence of the theme invites Muslims to remember how the migration took place and how it has a very big impact on a government institution.

“There is definitely unity in Malaysia, especially Sabah, enjoyed regardless of differences in a country with multiple races and religion. “Not only do our children need to inherit this, but equality and respect for each other should always be embedded,” he said.
