Kota Kinabalu: The leaders of Sabah and Sarawak have agreed to discuss collaborating in a Borneo bloc that will support a federal government beneficial to the two states.

Hajiji Noor, chairman of the ruling Gabungan Parti Sabah, said he had received a call from his Sarawak counterpart, Abang Johari Openg, “and we agreed to discuss a closer collaboration between us as a Borneo bloc”.

“This is to ensure we support the federal government that will be beneficial to Sabah and Sarawak,” he said in a press conference here.

Hajiji, who is Sabah chief minister, said the GRS-BN pact won 13 out of 25 seats in Sabah while Perikatan Nasional had won one seat.

He said the 14 MP will support a federal government that can bring stability to the country.

Hajiji did not state which of the three national political coalitions that GRS would support.

“We can’t say now because we have yet to receive the official results of all the seats. But if we want stability, we must look at what the coalition is and what they have to offer to Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.
