PETALING JAYA: A Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leader has voiced hope that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will appoint more Dayaks as deputy ministers.
According to Sarawak-based portal, Dayak Daily, Alexander Nanta Linggi said there were capable leaders from Sarawak’s various ethnic groups, including the Bidayuh, Lun Bawang, Kayan, Kenyah, Melanau and Iban.

These leaders, he said, have served several terms as MPs or senators.
“One of them has even served as the Dewan Negara deputy president,” he said, referring to Sri Aman MP Doris Sophia Brodie.
“The experience of these leaders must be considered in the appointment of deputy ministers.”
He also said Sarawakian Chinese MPs, including those from DAP, should also be given a chance to become deputy ministers.

“Such a lineup will reflect the unity among multiracial leaders in the country,” he said.
“I sincerely believe that Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg shares the same sentiments with me on this matter,” he said.
