Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Integrated Pest Management Association (Sipma) Chairman Mervin Liew said there must be a standardised training for pest control companies and operators in Sabah that comply with the Malaysia Pesticide Act 1974.
“Many people usually would arrange for a pest control operator to visit their home or business premises to carry out relevant control and extermination procedures.

“However, there are many unscrupulous individuals that take advantage by providing services without proper training, experience and legitimate certification, especially in this era where anyone could access social media easily,” he said in a statement, here, Saturday.
He said this may lead to over dosage of poison and certainly failure to follow standard operating procedures which may lead to accidental health poisoning and create life-threatening consequences to children, adults, senior citizens and pets.
