Sabah Games: First gold to come from table tennis

Table tennis was the first sport to start on Thursday at the Maksak Hall.
Kota Kinabalu: The first gold medal to be won in the 10th Sabah Games (Saga) is set to come from the table tennis team events today (Friday).
The men’s and women’s teams final is scheduled to be held at the Maksak Hall in Likas this morning starting at 9.30am.

They will be preceded by the semi-final matches at 8am.
Apart from the two gold medals available in the morning, three more golds are also up for grabs in the men’s and women’s doubles as well as the mixed doubles with the finals to be held late in the afternoon.
Table tennis and hockey were the only two sports which started on Thursday, two days before the official opening ceremony at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Stadium to be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
This year, some 7,000 athletes and officials are involved in the biennial games with 22 sports staged with a total of 182 gold, 182 silver and 262 bronze medals to be won.

Meanwhile, lawn bowls is the third sport to begin early today at the Keningau Sports Complex.
