Telipok: A resident’s quick action won praise from firefighters when he used a fire extinguisher to put out a fire in his kitchen in Taman Putramas Hills (pic above), Telipok, on Sunday.
Lintas Fire Station Acting Chief Laupen Nuar said they were thankful the resident was able to put out the fire before their arrival.

“It is hoped that this act can be emulated by everyone as an awareness towards the dangers of fire.
“We recommend every house to at least have one fire extinguisher,” he said.
No injuries were reported in the 11.10am incident responded to by a team of nine led by Renno Walter.
Laupen said the fire had spread to the corridor causing damage to a washing machine, refrigerator and a few unused items.

“About 30 per cent of the 20x20 house was destroyed. The remaining fire was put out with tap water,” he added.
