Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) is carrying out emergency repairs to two transmission towers in Ranau affected by active ground movement.
SESB Chief Executive Officer, Ir Ts Mohd Yaakob Hj Jaafar, said on-site inspections found the stability of 275kV transmission line tower sites compromised.

The condition of the two towers is critical for the 275kV Kolopis-Segaliud Grid transmission line.
“200MW needs to be channelled to the East and West coast of Sabah every day.
“SESB has taken swift action to install a temporary diversion tower, the Emergency Restoration System (ERS) at the site in collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the State Government.
“Eight ERS towers will be installed in these two locations to ensure that the energy supply to the East Coast of Sabah is unaffected,” he said on Friday.

He said removal works began on Feb 7, and is expected to be completed within five weeks.
