‘Don’t be quick to viral complaints’: Armizan
Armizan was officiating a Rahmah Sales Program (PJR) for Ramadan and a walkabout session at Bazar Ramadan here on Saturday.
PAPAR: Public, especially consumers, are urged not to viral their complaints via social media without first lodging official complaints with Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) platforms.

KPDN Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said errant traders may hide or correct their misconduct practices or activities if they know their actions have gone viral.

Hence, he said, it is advisable to lodge complaints officially at any platform provided by the KPDN such as WhatsApp which is 019-848 8000 / 019-279 4317; KPDN’s e-Complaints portal which is http://eaduan.kpdn.gov.my; Call Centre 1-800-886-800; Ez ADU KPDN Smartphone Application; and Enforcement Command Centre (ECC): 03-8882 6245 / 6088.

“If there is any complaint about any increase in the price of goods, we hope the complaint is made officially along with details such as the location or premises where the price increase occurred, including time, so that we can conduct an investigation.

“We encourage cooperation from the public as well as welcoming their feedback and complaints.

“Sometimes, when the issue goes viral, we are concerned that the trader may quickly rectify their misconduct or hide it.”

Armizan was officiating a Rahmah Sales Program (PJR) for Ramadan and a walkabout session at Bazar Ramadan here on Saturday.

He also presented Rahmah food baskets to 100 senior citizens and people in need of help.

He cited a recent video about the price of fried egg sold at RM4.50 at Taman Permaisuri Cheras bazaar that went viral in social media.

“We contacted the person who made the complaint and he admitted he did not buy the fried egg but saw a price tag of RM4.50.

“We checked the stall and it was selling steamed rice for RM4.50 with anchovies and the fried egg is an add-on dish, among others,” he said.

Armizan said, so far, there has been no complaint about the prices of bottled mineral being sold at higher pricing.

But if it is true that the selling price of bottled mineral has gone up due to the dry spell season and critical water woes, he said KPDN will cooperate with supermarkets, suppliers, wholesalers, and retailers to sell bottled minerals and bottled drinking water in the Rahmah Sales Program.

Armizan said KPDN also implemented Ops Pantau 2024 nationwide at focus locations such as Ramadan bazaars, Aidilfitri bazaars, public markets, wet markets, hypermarkets, supermarkets, wholesale premises, mini markets and retail stores.

He said inspections under Ops Pantau 2024 focused on a number of matters, among them related to supply of goods, prices of goods, cheap sales, use of weighing equipment, sale of imitation goods and halal compliance.

At the same time, Armizan said the KPDN is still continuing with the implementation of Ops Kesan throughout the country to monitor the impact of the implementation of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) increase from six to eight per cent.
