Floods: Membakut folks want Drainage and Irrigation Department to improve poor drainage system

Kampung Tahak Mandangin hit by flood which has not receded.
MEMBAKUT: Residents of Kampung Tahak Mandangin urged the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to address flood issue due to its poor drainage system.
Resident Wendy Khong said since a new, shallower drainage system was built, the village had been flooded consistently for up to a week at a time.
She said the problem has persisted since last year without any action being taken.
“The floods in this village has not receded for a week, and it has accumulated around our houses, endangering residents who are struggling to stay above water,” Wendy told Daily Express.
