PENAMPANG: Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang handed over RM250,000 to four associations catering to disabled individuals in Sabah.

These are the Sabah Society for the Deaf, Sabah Society for the Blind, Penampang Community Rehabilitation Programme, and Seri Mengasih Centre.

The donation ceremony, held at the UPPM Kapayan Office in Penampang, served as a reminder of the challenges faced by associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in supporting individuals with disabilities, especially amidst the financial strains exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Addressing the pressing issue of the escalating number of disabled individuals in Sabah, Lasimbang emphasised the imperative for heightened focus and resources to be directed towards associations and NGOs dedicated to providing essential training and guidance for the disabled population.
