GRS confident Kuala Penyu can retain seat in state polls
Dr Ariffin said the confidence is based on the leadership and achievements of the area’s assemblyman, Datuk Limus Jury, who has defended the seat since the 14th state election.
KUALA PENYU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is confident that the Kuala Penyu state constituency will contribute a seat to the coalition following the upcoming state election.

GRS Vice President Datuk Dr Ariffin Arif said the confidence is based on the leadership and achievements of the area’s assemblyman, Datuk Limus Jury, who has defended the seat since the 14th state election.

“Added to this are the various initiatives and assistance provided to the people by GRS Chairman cum Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, covering social, economic and educational aspects. 

Therefore, we are confident that Kuala Penyu will contribute one seat to GRS in this 17th state election,” he said at the Kuala Penyu Gagasan Rakyat Division Annual Conference on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Limus said Kuala Penyu is set to benefit economically through the tourism industry with the establishment of an international resort, Club Med.

He said the six-star resort is currently under construction and expected to be fully completed by the end of this year, bringing various economic impacts to the area.

“Once completed, this Club Med international resort will attract tourists from around the world and this area will certainly enjoy spill over effects such as employment opportunities and local business growth.

“Not only that, we are also planning to implement various infrastructure developments to strengthen the tourism sector in Kuala Penyu,” he said.
