PITAS: Two state constituencies, Pitas and Pintasan, are expected to remain strongholds for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the coming 17th Sabah State Election.

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Vice President Datuk Masiung Banah expressed confidence that both constituencies would deliver strong results for GRS, describing them as reliable contributors to the coalition’s seat count.

Masiung said this when officiating the annual general meetings for Gagasan Rakyat’s Pitas and Pintasan divisions. The Pitas meeting was held at Kampung Salimpodon Open Field, followed by the Pintasan division meeting in Kota Belud later in the day.

The Pitas division is led by Assistant Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Sri Ruddy Awah, while the Pintasan division is headed by Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Fairuz Randdan.

Speaking to over 2,500 representatives at the Pitas gathering, Masiung reminded party members against complacency despite their strong position.

He pointed out the need for grassroots leaders to maintain high commitment to achieve decisive victories.

Drawing historical parallels, the Kuamut Assemblyman referenced the Battle of Uhud, warning against celebrating prematurely as it could lead to unexpected defeat.

At the Pintasan meeting, Masiung reminded party members to follow central leadership directives rather than acting independently.

He said Gagasan Rakyat members should focus on their responsibilities instead of speculating about the dissolution date of the state assembly, which falls under the party president’s purview.

Masiung advised divisional leaders to concentrate on securing victories rather than responding to opposition provocations, saying that increased opposition attacks and negative campaigning would only strengthen GRS’ position as the ruling State Government.
