By Joshua Y C Kong I REFER to “Govt should heed Harris’ expert advice, says DAP”(DE Jan. 9)
Ex-CM Tan Sri Harris is a man who insist Parliament is all powerful in all matters.
Then rules and regulations are made under the provision of such acts of Parliament.
So why is Harris raising such issues that can be at variances to the good governance of the nation as far as foreign workers are concerned?

I have been to forums on stateless kids where I am told that such kids likely belong to the illegals who benefited from the Project IC, also denied by Harris.
I also know that there is great concern about the stateless kids prevailing in Sabah without any solution in sight despite the Royal Commission of Inquiry on Illegal Immigrants Report on 4th December, 2014.
Also the reports if the two so-called action committees thereof are held “hidden” from genuine Sabahans.
The other important aspects of children of oil palm plantation workers is that such workers should not bring their wives and the children over to Sabah or have children while they work under temporary work permits or contracts in Sabah.

It is very worrying that we can have almost two million Project IC holders in Sabah with their offspring for decades and now the million and more plantation workers have their children born in Sabah, and indeed we are overwhelmed by outside people.
Would the Statistics Department and other authorities like immigration department and plantation ministry own up to the reality of this depressing scenario?
We must remind ourselves that in pursuit of some revenue in the plantations for short term, we have already lost our “sovereignty” to outsiders.
So we must re-consider all the violations of outsiders in our midst with irreversible consequences in once peaceful and peace loving Sabah.

We need a strong political will to ensure our sovereignty is intact.
